LA Noire reviews.
p3-A-
The IGN review says that LA Noire itself it an action adventure game but ‘it’s not like most video games developed by Rockstar. You don't play the outlaw running wild, free to kill, steal, and cause destruction. You're a cop. A good cop at that, determined to restore order to the violent streets of 1940s Los Angeles.’ The IGN review also says it is an open-world game, which means you’re free to roam around the recreated streets of LA.

Adventure Gamers also says in their review that even though this game is an adventure game, it is not a niche game as Rockstar and Team Bondi have made the most expensive and expansive adventure game ever made.

The Telegraph, a UK newspaper admit the game is also an adventure game set in the late 1940’s, and say although it’s not the best game from its genre, it is a ‘brilliant game.’

P3-B-

IGN, Adventure Gamers and the telegraph all agree that the target audience is gamers who have a lot of time, due to the amount of missions and chapters within the LA Noire itself. It is also a game for people who enjoy detective games and of course, action-adventure games. I know this as all three reviews talk in detail about the genre of the game and the audience it attracts.

P3-C-

IGN talks in great detail about the storyline from the gamers point of view and gives examples of the type of things that the characters do in the game. For example, IGN give you an example of what you, as the detective would do to try and get a response from the suspect.  ‘you must choose to believe, doubt, or accuse them of lying. Get it right and you can open them up and get more clues. Get it wrong, and they offer less. The better you do over the course of a case, the more you'll understand the suspect's motivations.’ This type of way to explain the storyline to a reader and a possibly potential gamer is good as it entices the reader to want to try the game itself, as IGN have positively reviewed the game.

In addition, Adventure Gamers explain how players will take on the role of police officer Cole Phelps and give a slight explanation of his background. The review explains that as the game progresses your role will change as you upgrade to a police officer.

The Telegraph review of LA Noire is very similar to the Adventure Gamers review as it gives a explanation of Cole Phelps and examples of what types of missions that will unfold.

P3-D-

The IGN review only mentions the main character who the gamers play; Cole Phelps, however, during the end of the review it mentions that he has a wife but she is in fact a omniscent character who doesn’t appear much.

Adventure Gamers and The Telegraph only mention Cole Phelps as a character and no one else.

P3-E-

IGN and Adventure Gamers reviews praise the quality of the graphics within the game and how there are hardly any technical faults. IGN also says the ‘captivating’ scenes within the game are the core of LA Noire and they are very good. In addition, Adventure gamers say that the game’s production values are top notch as well and the graphics capture the retro-modern feel of LA before WW2. It also praises how the colors in the game are rich, and the settings are very detailed. The Telegraph on the other hand comments on the game and says it’s not perfect and can be ‘downright scrappy’ it also says that although it’s flawed it is a brilliant marriage of new technology and a game of transition.

P3-F- IGN fails to comment on any platforms the game is available on. Adventure Gamers says the game is available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and gives their opinion on which one is best and says PS3 wins- although the game is incredible on both. It says the PlayStation comes on a single Blu-ray disc, the Xbox comes out on three discs. The Telegraph also fails the mention any platforms.

P3-G-

In my opinion the most detailed and the best quality review would have to be the IGN review, they are known for their reviews and are very reliable and their review was very detailed.

I chose The Telegraph as they are a reliable UK paper and I also chose Adventure Gamers as they are also known for their reviews and their reviews seem to be of good quality.
IGN gave a positive review on LA Noire as a whole, with praise about the gameplay, the storyline and a very detailed review on what type of game it is. Also Adventure Gamers also give a very positive review on the game itself with special praise to the graphics on LA Noire. However, The Telegraph say the game it scrappy in its graphics although they are positive about everything else.
